Howard A. Meyerhoff (1899-1982), a geologist, was professor of geology at Smith College from 1925 to 1949, administrative secretary and chair of the editorial board for the American Association for the Advancement of Science form 1949 to 1953, a member of the Scientific Manpower Commission fro m1953 to 1965, and head of the geology deparment at the University of Pennsylvania fro m1962 to 1967.
